I was waitin' to see if anybody else could answer your question.i've used the mbox on my friend's pc and my other friend also has protools on his laptop. With protools le, you have to connect the mbox to the pc/laptop's usb port just to open up the software (i tried it on the laptop without the mbox bein' connected just to see what protools looks like. This was before my other friend got protools and i had a chance to record some vocals with it).so i'm guessin' that protools would have some sort of hardware/software requirement in order to use m-audio protools.

So i would guess that connection would be m-audio hardware and the ilok hardware.the m-audio website doesn't tell you anything about ilokbut you can email m-audio and they will get back to you. I e-mailed them a question i had about the firewire 410 and they answered my question for me. This is the e-mail that i sent my question too.
