The LDLIBRARYPATH settings are critical, because Xilinx ships its own copies of the C runtime library, which happen to be different (and older) than will be found on most modern distributions. One consequence is that with those libraries in your LDLIBRARYPATH, you won't be able to run any program that links against libstdc without specifying a specific DLL version (ie: libstdc.6.0.8) while still expecting a newer version of the library. In particular, on Ubuntu this means Firefox, which is the browser that ISE expects to use.Even this isn't a problem under most circumstances except:.
